EFFECT ON NEET COUNSELLING DUE TO INI-CET COUNSELLING

CareerXpert states that the result of INI-CET has been announced in the last week. The result of INI-CET may impact the NEET PG 2023 Counselling. There is a probability that the top rankers may be affected by this. It can be expected that the counselling for INI-CET will be conducted before NEET counselling. The counselling may impact PG counselling in terms of seat allotment. A 200-300 rank shift difference based on seats may be observed then. If a few students get allotment in AIIMS with INI-CET counselling then they will surely choose AIIMS with the desired branch rather than any other Government Institute.

The expert counsellor Gaurav Tyagi also mentions that counselling is not rocket science for any NEET aspirant but getting a good medical institute according to your rank is a tough job. Candidates should avoid any sort of mistake in the counselling to get into an excellent college as per the ranking and branch preference. The branch should be carefully selected in medical counselling as a single wrong decision can ruin your career badly. Here comes the role of an expert medical counsellor. A candidate can do the entire neet pg counselling himself if he is aware of the process.

NEET PG Counselling 2022 vs 2023: What's the Difference?

According to CareerXpert, there can be a difference in PG counselling this year. The counselling this year may differ slightly from last year in a few ways. Based on the candidates' propensity to obtain seats, there would be a difference between the NEET PG 2022 and NEET PG 2023 counselling sessions. This year, a maximum number of candidates would take admission according to their branch choice and budget. There is less probability that the candidates will take drop their year again.

Candidates who just desire to take MD/MS courses can compromise their specialization choice but not with their course. MD in Medicine is the highest preferred course among NEET PG aspirants nowadays according to analysis. Branch choices keep on changing every two to three years. The maximum number of candidates are only seeking admission in MD in Medicine as compared to the past years. There are higher chances that the seats would be increased this year as per the increasing demands in our country. It is a misconception that the number of seats will decrease in the upcoming session. NEET PG seats and colleges are expected to increase in a few states according to NMC ( National Medical Commission) for MS/MD counselling. The cut-off would be impacted by the number of seats increase in colleges. It is obvious that the rankings in which the allocation was made the previous year cannot be the same for this year. The branch should be selected wisely in your Postgraduate degree so as to get success in life with a particular specialization.

Commencement of Counselling

To be announced

Lots of rumours are circulating these days that the counselling would start in the months of May and June but this is actually a rumour only as there is no chance of counselling to be commenced soon. As per the previous assumptions only, the counselling is likely to be started in mid-July.

According to Gaurav Tyagi (the director and expert counsellor of Career Xpert), one more rumour is airing that only one counselling will be done for All India as well as State Quota Counselling but this is impossible as both counsellings cannot be held together. He also stated that NEET 2023 aspirants are expecting the revised cut-off will be reduced by 25 percentile but we should not rely on this information. The aspirants can expect the cut-off to be reduced by 15-20 percentile only and not more than this. He also advised to decide the branch specialization with proper analysis of pros and cons of courses before the counselling.

Note: Do not rely on fake sources as they will just mislead you to much extent. Make a habit of visiting official website mcc.nic.in regularly for the latest updates or notifications.

NEET-2023

Counselling Information

The counselling takes months to complete with all the rounds. All the rounds are conducted by the counselling authority i.e. MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) to admit candidates in UG as well as PG medical courses.

NEET counselling process consists of four rounds such as Round 1, Round 2, Mop up round and Stray Vacancy round respectively. Below is a brief description of all the rounds to make you aware of the procedure.

  • Round 1 - This is the very first round of NEET Counselling in which candidates register themselves, do the choice filling and deposit security money. The result of this particular round is released after the completion of the round.

  • Round 2 - This round is conducted after round 1 subsequently. No further registration is required for candidates who have already applied for Round 1 but have not got any seat allocation. Fresh choice filling and results are declared in this particular round. The candidates who have joined a seat in round 2 of the State quota or AIQ counselling process are not permitted to participate in the subsequent rounds of the counselling process.

  • Mop-up Round - This round is conducted after the end of round 2. In this round, a fresh registration is required along with the fee payment. A fresh choice filling is done in this stage so as to make an allotment for those who haven’t got any allotment in the previous rounds.

  • Stray Vacancy Round - This is the last round of the NEET counselling process for the leftover seats in the institutes. It is specially conducted to fill the seats in deemed universities/institutes. The list of registered and qualified candidates is sent by MCC to the appropriate Deemed Universities then an offline process is conducted for the same.

Note: Once any round commences, the rules of that round will apply to all the candidates even if they were allotted/admitted in the previous round(s) of counselling

Every counselling session is different and each session has its own set of guidelines.
